Nordic Walking is one of the four Nike Riga Run sports since it is a great choice for those who like active recreation and who want to feel toned by proportional physical training.

During Nordic Walking, a person can train up to 90% of the muscles, but with the provision that the process is carried out correctly. Everyone is invited to join the common trainings in Mežaparks coached by Linda Andrusa. However, Nordic Walking is a movement of walking, strengthened with poles, which work almost like another pair of legs. The load is equally divided on the upper and lower part of the body. Nordic Walking is regularly used as a training method by professional sportsmen, since Nordic Walking is a perfect aerobe training. Besides, it is used also as a rehab method after traumas or it is a qualitative training for those who, for example, due to injured knees or ankles cannot do jogging, but they want to continue sporting.
The competition in Nordic Walking takes place very rarely, because mainly it is an activity for you, feeling of comfort and for improvement of the physical shape. It is not an active struggle for seconds, but a challenge for your own abilities – can I cope with the task I started.

The set distance in Nike Riga Run 2012 is 10 kilometres, which for the Nordic Walkers is to be considered a medium level of difficulty. The start is planned together with runners of 10 kilometres. You can read the common information on the pace of Nordic Walking in Nike Riga Run in the Regulations.
